Canada Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions 1990-2024

Total greenhouse gas emissions in kt of CO2 equivalent are composed of CO2 totals excluding short-cycle biomass burning (such as agricultural waste burning and Savannah burning) but including other biomass burning (such as forest fires, post-burn decay, peat fires and decay of drained peatlands), all anthropogenic CH4 sources, N2O sources and F-gases (HFCs, PFCs and SF6).
  • Canada greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2020 was 677,709.22, a 6.77% decline from 2019.
  • Canada greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2019 was 726,904.12, a 2.07% decline from 2018.
  • Canada greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2018 was 742,232.54, a 2.29% increase from 2017.
  • Canada greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2017 was 725,612.82, a 2.32% increase from 2016.
