New Zealand Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions 1990-2025

Total greenhouse gas emissions in kt of CO2 equivalent are composed of CO2 totals excluding short-cycle biomass burning (such as agricultural waste burning and Savannah burning) but including other biomass burning (such as forest fires, post-burn decay, peat fires and decay of drained peatlands), all anthropogenic CH4 sources, N2O sources and F-gases (HFCs, PFCs and SF6).
  • New Zealand greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2020 was 80,158.03, a 3.63% decline from 2019.
  • New Zealand greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2019 was 83,180.27, a 1.68% increase from 2018.
  • New Zealand greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2018 was 81,806.77, a 0.74% decline from 2017.
  • New Zealand greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2017 was 82,414.82, a 2% increase from 2016.
