Euro Area Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions 1990-2024

Total greenhouse gas emissions in kt of CO2 equivalent are composed of CO2 totals excluding short-cycle biomass burning (such as agricultural waste burning and Savannah burning) but including other biomass burning (such as forest fires, post-burn decay, peat fires and decay of drained peatlands), all anthropogenic CH4 sources, N2O sources and F-gases (HFCs, PFCs and SF6).
  • Euro Area greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2020 was 2,362,049.40, a 9.02% decline from 2019.
  • Euro Area greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2019 was 2,596,337.78, a 4.27% decline from 2018.
  • Euro Area greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2018 was 2,712,054.60, a 2.59% decline from 2017.
  • Euro Area greenhouse gas (ghg) emissions for 2017 was 2,784,091.73, a 0.11% decline from 2016.
